Harnessing AI to Transform Customer Engagement at Illumio
AI Innovator Academy Award Finalist 2025

Since joining Illumio as a Senior Customer Advocacy Specialist earlier this year, my journey has been nothing short of transformative. Tasked with the challenge of enhancing our customer engagement processes, I turned to artificial intelligence (AI) – a decision that has profoundly reshaped our approach and outcomes in engaging with customers.

Integrating AI into our business processes has allowed us to move faster, do more, and create impactful customer stories.

One of the first tools I adopted was OtterAI. This powerful AI-driven platform enabled me to transcribe customer calls with unparalleled accuracy. But I didn’t stop there; I integrated these transcriptions into other AI tools like CoPilot and ChatGPT. This integration wasn’t just about leveraging new technology – it was about creating a seamless workflow from capturing customer insights to generating valuable content across various formats.

Creating Multifaceted Customer Content with AI

By feeding the transcribed data into CoPilot and ChatGPT, I was able to automate the creation of diverse content outputs. This included everything from internal notes to comprehensive customer story write-ups, social media quotes, detailed slides for presentations, downloadable PDFs, and even video content. The efficiency brought about by these AI tools was game-changing.

The ability to rapidly generate diverse content has not only saved us time but also significantly increased our content’s reach and impact.

Another area where AI has made a significant impact is in optimizing our SEO strategies around customer stories. By using AI-driven analytics, I could understand better which aspects of our content resonated most with our audience, allowing us to refine our approaches and boost online engagement.

Enhancing Early Customer Advocacy with Predictive AI

In my role, sourcing customers for advocacy begins long before the actual storytelling. Here again, AI came to the rescue. Using predictive analytics, I was able to identify potential customer advocates earlier in the process based on their past participation and engagement levels.

This predictive capability allowed us to tailor our engagement strategies more effectively, ensuring that we’re not just reaching out to potential advocates but engaging them in a manner that resonates with their interests and past behaviors.

Customizing Content Plans with AI Insights

Understanding how different customers represent their cybersecurity programs publicly has been crucial. With AI’s help, I’ve been able to analyze this data effectively, creating more personalized and engaging content plans that align closely with what our customers are passionate about.

AI has enabled us to tailor our approaches so finely that each customer feels uniquely understood and valued.

This level of personalization isn’t just about making customers feel special – it’s a strategic move that has led to deeper engagement and more robust advocacy from our customer base.

Looking Ahead: The Future of AI in Customer Advocacy

As I continue to explore new ways to integrate AI into our processes at Illumio, the potential for further innovation seems limitless. Whether it’s further automating content production, enhancing personalization, or discovering new insights through data analytics, AI stands as a pillar of our strategy.

The journey of integrating AI into our business processes at Illumio has been immensely rewarding. Not only have we seen tangible improvements in how we engage with and advocate for our customers, but we’ve also set a benchmark in the industry for how AI can be used creatively to drive business success.

In conclusion, the integration of AI into customer advocacy is not just a technical upgrade—it’s a strategic revolution that has redefined how we connect with, understand, and deliver value to our customers. At Illumio, we’re just getting started, and the future looks bright with AI by our side.
